Start with a visit to the lively Assomada market before mounting up and descending to the ancient kapok tree, Poilão. This remarkable 500-year-old tree was studied by Charles Darwin during his visit to the island and remains a vital powerhouse for the valley's agricultural ecosystem.From there, ride through the fertile farming valley of Boa Entrada and continue along the East Coast to the culturally rich Rabelados community of Espinho Branco, known for its historic anti-colonial resistance and traditional rural way of life.
