A travel agency built with the island, not next to it
Andreas founded Strela Travel in Tarrafal and built it together with people who live here. Today our guides, drivers, cooks and hosts are one team.
Our story
Strela Travel began in 2011, when Andreas arrived in Tarrafal and turned his home, Casa Strela, into a small guesthouse. Around the same time he was among the first to offer professional tours on Santiago and Fogo. From the start, the goal was to strengthen regional business and promote sustainable tourism that benefits both visitors and local communities.
Casa Strela grew with a small team — many of whom are still part of the Strela family today — and over time expanded into Strela Travel: five accommodations, three restaurants, Strela Tours and transfer services. More than 35 local families benefit directly, through jobs and opportunities.
Today we continue to promote eco-cultural tourism, connecting visitors with Cabo Verde's landscapes, traditions and communities while supporting local livelihoods.

Community impact
As part of our commitment to eco-cultural tourism, the Strela family supports initiatives that make a real difference in Tarrafal and beyond: a lifeguard chair to improve beach safety, trees planted for greener school spaces, and renovated classrooms at Txom Bom School. Andreas comes from a family with deep roots in firefighting — inspired by this legacy, he donated two large firefighting trucks to support local emergency services.
