Founded in January 2023, Strela Mountain Lodge reflects a passion for nature, culture, and sustainable travel. Our team is dedicated to offering authentic experiences with deep respect for the environment and local traditions. The natural park holds great cultural importance for nearby communities, offering guests opportunities to connect with locals and learn about traditional farming and way of life.
Nestled just before the descent to the ocean near Tarrafal, Strela Mountain Lodge is ideally located for early morning hikes and breathtaking treks through Serra Malagueta Natural Park. The park is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, including 14 plant species found nowhere else in the world, and several endangered bird species. This prime mountain location offers both peaceful isolation and easy access to explore the island’s rich natural and cultural heritage.
As part of our commitment to responsible eco-cultural tourism, we proudly support the local community by providing fair, meaningful employment to 8 local families. Our philosophy blends respect for nature with a deep connection to the cultural heritage of Serra Malagueta—helping to sustain both the environment and the people who call it home.
Relaxed and welcoming, our cozy restaurant pairs hearty flavors with stunning mountain views. We serve simple, home-style dishes made with fresh, local ingredients — classic Cabo Verdean cuisine with a European twist.
From slow-cooked pork over sweet potato purée to sizzling tuna and fresh fish burgers, our rotating menu reflects what’s in season. Enjoy daily lunch and dinner specials, or grab snacks and refreshing drinks throughout the day — perfect after a hike or while relaxing on-site.
Cocktails made with local fruits offer a true taste of the island. Guests can also opt for our half-board service, with freshly prepared lunch and dinner included for a worry-free stay.
