Casa Strela was founded in 2012 by Swiss owner Andreas Schäfer and has grown from a small 3-room B&B into a local tourism hub in Tarrafal. Today, our team is a mix of Cabo Verdean and European staff, united by a shared goal: to support sustainable tourism that benefits the local community.
Casa Strela is located on the coast of Ponta de Atum, a new neighborhood in the small fishing town of Tarrafal, in the north of the island of Santiago in Cape Verde.
Through Strela Travel, we aim to create positive, lasting impacts in Tarrafal by practicing responsible eco-cultural tourism and strengthening the region’s economy. We proudly support over 25 families through employment and partnerships, and we’re actively involved in local initiatives—ranging from education and public safety to small-scale urban improvements.
Our rooftop restaurant offers a warm, family-style atmosphere—full of flavor, with beautiful ocean views. We serve a simple, home-cooked menu made with fresh, local ingredients and lots of love. It’s Cabo Verdean cuisine with a touch of European flair.
From slow-cooked pork in red wine over sweet potato purée to fish burgers and fresh tuna served on a sizzling hot stone, every dish is made to delight. We also offer daily specials based on seasonal ingredients, along with refreshing cocktails made with local fruits and island-inspired flavors.
We also offer half-board service, which includes a freshly prepared dinner each evening—perfect for guests who want a relaxed and delicious end to their day.
